Christopher Slatoff studied in both the United States and France. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture from California State Long Beach where he has been teaching life sculpture. Slatoff also teaches sculpture at Art Center School of Design and Medieval and Renaissance Art History in Orvieto, Italy during the summer. He is the current sculpture chairman of the California Art Club.

In 2002 he worked on a prestigious project for the Cathedral of Los Angeles, realizing sculptural groups of large dimension in bronze for some of the stations of the Via Crucis.

In 2011 he created The Illustrated Man in collaboration with celebrated writer Ray Bradbury. The ½ life size version of this concept, won the Gold Medal for sculpture at the “97th Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition” at the Pasadena Museum of California Art.

Celebrated life-size public art pieces include “Sheltering Wings,” that was commissioned by the Port District of San Diego and is installed on Coronado Island, "Adoption" that was commissioned by the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, the Crucifix for the Our Savior Chapel at USC Caruso Catholic Center and the most recent "Enduring Heroes" in Pasadena and "Hecuba" at the USC Village in Los Angeles.

 

His faith and the community are always present in the work of Slatoff. Internationally known for his profound dedication to the arts, the American artist has won international prizes and exhibited in solo and group exhibits all over the world.

 

His life-size works honor many public spaces in California.
